ForestR is a wonderful way to make a local impact. The gleaners are careful, courteous, and capable of cleaning out an over abundant fruit tree in a couple of hours. It’s a low effort way to give back to our local community by providing seasonal, fresh produce to neighbors in need. We’ve already gleaned clementines and figs, and will keep an eye out for future “bumper crops” that might otherwise be wasted in the compost heap.

It was a joy to have ForestR volunteers harvest oranges off my tree. Not only does that take care of the tree and prevent waste, it gives healthy food to those who might not otherwise get it. This in turn gradually improves mental and physical health for many, which reduces problems associated with deficits in these areas. Good food levels the playing field for accomplishing a healthy life across the board.

When I asked on Facebook if anyone knew of an organization that would harvest my extra fruit, a couple of people suggested ForestR. I was so amazed at the quick response and fell in love with the fact that the harvest would be donated. I was once a single mom living in a homeless shelter and now that life has improved for us I try to give back. The fact that this organization gives openly to the needy and doesn’t require payment is what helped me to decide to use them. If you find yourself with a little more than needed I hope you reach out to this wonderful organization. The volunteers were awesome. So polite and friendly. I will definitely be donating more to them.

Once the gleaning team joined ForestR and was conducting more ambitious gleaning work we knew we had to get involved by volunteering. Their mission is terrific and their dedication to beautifying our community and stewarding conservation and sustainability are inspiring us all to be more aware and involved.

I donated my fruit because I didn’t want it to go to waste since I can only consume so much. Might as well give it to those who want or can consume it. Helps keep my yard tidier and less work for me to clean up from falling on the ground.

I let ForestR glean from my tree because it’s quick, easy, free, and my tree is healthier because of it! I know that the fruit does not go to waste on ground in my yard and it goes to someone who will benefit from it.

Our family has always felt strongly about not wasting resources so we were glad when Grazyna and her wonderful kids offered their gleaning services to help us get the most from our loquat tree which was bearing more beautiful fruit than we could ever eat…or reach!!
