Pleasant Hill Area Harvest Leader

My family and I started harvesting fruit for donation in 2008 and have been hooked ever since. When my older daughter was in preschool she loved to garden and we tried to find community activities she was excited about and that is when we came across harvesting fruit. My two daughters and I are trained harvest leaders and love being outdoors, meeting new people and providing a valuable service for our community. We love connecting to the fruit donors and enjoy getting to know other local volunteers of all ages.

We have volunteered at small and large harvests including Charlotte’s Harvest and the Great Citrus Harvest as well as helped plant a fruit orchard at my daughters’ school in Walnut Creek. We have volunteered with other local agencies including The White Pony, CC Food Bank and local shelters. It has been wonderful to be a part of the entire process- to educate young people about the importance of farming and gleaning, to help plant an orchard, to meet donors of the fruit, to harvest, to deliver it to agencies and to see it appreciated and consumed.

I love volunteering with this organization and doing a small part to help with food deserts and food justice. I am a Pediatrician and am trained in Integrative Medicine. During the pandemic I worked in public health for the state of California. Outside of medicine and harvesting, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, our 2 pups, hiking, traveling, reading, and yoga.
