Purpose

With Storytellers’, ForestR introduces a new park format—the Front Yard Pocket Park! After restoring and regenerating the soil to become a water catchment, we create public green spaces to hold community gatherings while showcasing nature.

We envision Front Yard Pocket Parks anchoring the Block x Block Challenge, which aims to connect neighbors around creating healthy soil. Learn more about greening front yards to hold water and gatherings and become a supporter of the first Pilot Program today!

Storytellers’ Origin

Storytellers emerged after two neighbors agreed to work together to restore the soil in their front yards by removing weed barriers and replacing them with fresh tree mulch and drainage rock barriers to create a water catchment.

Another neighbor on the block offered two sturdy wooden chairs for the public space between sidewalk and curb. As the project evolved, an invasive English Holly Tree was removed that separated the properties and created unusable space. The ~400 square feet is now a front yard pocket park boasting two mature trees with seating for six, where neighbors now sit in nature, relating and connecting.
