Every Saturday, at noon, Forestr.org hosts gatherings along the Castro Valley freeway. There we focus on trash collection and the promotion clean spaces.
Adopt-A-Highway days are an open invitation for family, friends, and neighbors to join us in picking trash along the 580 west-bound freeway.
We will meet up at the corner of Castro Valley Blvd. and Center Street (overpass).
From there, we walk to the freeway’s edge and begin ‘picking’ for a few hours.
Forester.org (and our Caltrans sponsors) will provide hard hats, gloves, bags, and safety vests. However, you are free to bring your own supplies as you would like.
Please dress for the weather. Keep in mind that the it is often cold in these open areas. You may also get a bit of a workout, but likely not enough to break a sweat.
*NOTE : Rain and inclement weather will cancel the day’s picking. We are not allowed on land if it is not safe to visit. DM our page should you have any question about whether a day is to happen or not
*NOTE #2 : Masks required. However, this is very well socially distanced work, so, once on the land and properly distanced, brief mask breaks are allowed within reason.
