Purpose

As one of our original Pocket Parks, Sage embodies ForestR’s core hope to create public green spaces that provide places of relaxation and restoration for neighbors human non-human alike. Everything is designed to invite passers by onto the land to rest, enjoy the native wildlife, and witness all the creatures that now call the space home.

Amenities

Native Plant Garden

We focus on populating Sage with plenty of native flowers to support our local butterflies and the two families of hummingbirds who live on the land.

Plenty of Seating

We’ve placed various kinds of wooden benches and stools all around Sage to encourage community members to take time to relax among the plants.

Sage’s Origin

Sage park began as a small spit of land that no one held enough interest in to claim. It was bare dirt, and the ForestR community fell in love with it on first sight. With support of the Castro Valley Library and friends at the Alameda Public Works, we were able to activate this space in early 2022.
