ForestR Pocket Parks

Sage Park

Development Stage : Proposal | Planning | Design | Activation | Maintenance

Visit today at: 3600 Norbridge Ave, Castro Valley, CA 94546

Sage park began as a small spit of land that no one was quiet sure enough to claim. It was bare dirt and the ForestR community fell in love with it on first site. With support of the Castro Valley Library and friends at the Alameda Public Works, we were able to activate this space in early 2022. Planting native plants, trees, and creating seating. All designed to invite padders bye onto the land to rest their feet, enjoy the plant life, and witness all the wonderful new butterflies that now call the space home.

Three planting events later, Sage park is a vibrant part of our local community. A space dedicated to the power of community and the resilience of urban spaces.

Every pocket park is an opportunity for our local businesses to step forward and prove their dedication to our community, our ecology, and our world. We want to thank these amazing sponsors for helping make this pocket park thrive:

Sage #Pocketpark Update: This Saturday was a triumph of plant saving awe! We want to thank all the ForestRs who came out and helped to move every plant from half the park space that is to be turned into a new sidewalk.

More on Sage here: https://www.forestr.org/pocket-parks/sage-park/

We plan one more follow up to relocate a little more of the space in the near future. However, for this weekend, we celebrate every plant that was relocated, every fig tree saved, AND the amazing ‘Annie-Oakley’ who was replanted beside all the sage plants 🙂

Sage Park will rise again! Mark our words 🙂 The green will return … even better than before … by year’s end.

A huge thanks to the Castro Valley Girl Scouts for coming out to Sage #pocketpark , weeding, creating water swales, and composting not only the plants but also each and every tree AND prospective tree sapling too 🙂

It was a wonderful Monday evening and the ForestRs are so happy to have hosted this amazing troop of little ForestRs!
