Purpose

NoMa & Prospect Hill Neighborhood Associations and ForestRs maintain Hazel Park as an open space for community gathering and growing. Come visit to relax and enjoy a view of the flowers, host your next family BBQ, or expand your gardening project in our public planter boxes!

Amenities

Public Planter Boxes

Hazel is honored to provide a seven planter boxes completely open to public use. Feel free to plant fruits, flowers, vegetables, or anything else you don’t have space for in your home garden!

Two Sitting Circles

The neighbors of Hazel Park have constructed two tree stump sitting circles. Each is bordered by flowers and plenty of trees for shade. The space is open for your family BBQs, talk circles, birthday parties, or just to grab a moment in the lovely green space, no RSVP needed!

Fruit Orchard

At the front of our permaculture plans is Hazel’s growing fruit orchard, with the ultimate goal of it becoming a gleanable food resource for all neighbors to source at will.

Two Redwood Fairy Circles

ForestRs and neighbors of Hazel Park will be building on two wonderful Redwood fairy circles over the coming years. Cordoning off the small spaces for those who want to sit amongst the majestic spired of our natural Redwoods. Plans are in motion to place little pathways and fairy doors for our younger visitors to enjoy as well.

Creekside View

The Hazel park hillside offers an excellent view of the creek and we look forward to being a part of the future HARD walk/bicycle pathways that are planned in the coming years. These paths will be running down the other side of the creek. Yet, we anticipate visitors being drawn to Hazel for a beautiful respite in their travels.

Hazel’s Origin

In 2022, the City of Hayward and NoMa & Prospect Hill Neighborhood Associations asked Forestr.org to help transform and litter-filled abandoned lot into a permanent community garden accessible to all Hayward residents.
