Purpose

Corral Park, named for the horse corral on the property, is across the road from East Bay Regional Park’s popular Lake Chabot Marina and Park.  It runs along Lake Chabot Road from Carlton Avenue to the Fairmont Avenue/Lake Chabot Road intersection.  Park users walk, run, and ride along this strip of land every day.

The first work party of Phase One was on Saturday November 29.  Fifteen people came together and tackled a 350-ft. section which made an immediate difference!  Future work parties will continue clean-up efforts to cover the entire stretch along the sidewalk and eventually farther up the slope to the East Bay Regional Park boundary.  The group will maintain this area and provide continuous litter removal as needed.

Corral’s Origin

Neighbors wanted the area cleaned up of fire fuel which built up over many years.  In addition to safety, beautification was equally important.  The group Neighbors of Lake Chabot was formed to figure out how our goals could become a reality.  Partnering with Forestr.org was our catalyst to get this project off the ground.
