So… what's the big idea?
The Big Bloom is a scavenger hunt for flowers. Spot one in bloom, take a photo, upload it — that's a point. There's no route and no schedule, just a nudge to slow down and notice the color that's already all around you.
You don't need to be a gardener or name a single species. If it's blooming and you found it, it counts. And as everyone's photos add up, they build something bigger than any one leaderboard: a shared, seasonal picture of what's flowering across our corner of the East Bay — the same spirit of noticing native and pollinator-friendly plants that drives our Seed Library.

It's beautifully simple: every flower photo you upload is worth one point, and the highest counts top the leaderboard. Because it runs the long way — from the Fall Festival through to late spring — the challenge travels with the seasons. Fall gold now, quiet and rare through winter, then the big spring rush of poppies and lupine.
